Team Title and Individual Titles Abound at the Dennis Brighton Invitational

The Corral was home to a competitive day of wrestling this past Saturday. Seven teams entered the event with the Mules coming out on top in front of their home crowd. Schools making the trip to The Corral included Ida, Jefferson Monroe, Napoleon, Lakeshore, Manchester and Rochester. In the end, the Mules beat out Lakeshore (241.5 pts) to take the title with 265 points.
In regards to individual performances at the tourney, the Mules had a great day. The Mules entered a wrestler in all 14 weight classes and had 12 wrestlers reach the podium when it was all over. Below is a summary of each wrestler ordered by placement:
Champions
- Freshman Rollie Denker went 4-0 with 3 pins @ 135lbs
- Freshman Randy Boisselle went 3-0 @ 140lbs
- Junior Mason Rimmer went 3-0 with 2 pins @ 145lbs
- Junior Colin Jagielski went 3-0 with 3 pins @ 171lbs
- Senior Blake Wingate went 4-0 with 3 pins @ 285lbs
Runner-up
- Senior Cade Sutterfield went 3-1 @ 125lbs
Third Place
- Chase Grzegorczyk went 3-1 @ 119lbs
- Junior Will Gorman went 3-1 @ 130lbs
- Junior Logan Frantz went 2-1 @ 152lbs
- Senior Jeff Johnson went 3-1 @ 160lbs
- Junior Cage Dye went 2-1 @ 189lbs
Fourth Place
- Junior Zane Gerber went 1-2 @ 215lbs
Freshman Erik Simmons went 2-2 on the day at 103lbs for a 5th place finish.
The Mules will be at Techumseh this Wednesday to take on the Indians and AA Huron. Meet starts at 5:30.
