Saturday at The Palace of Auburn Hills a new amazing record was set for a program glittering with awards and records. Mitch Rogaliner (103) became the first ever Freshman State Champion for Bedford! In the last match of the finals Rogaliner, who put together an amazing tournament, PINNED Josh Wood from Rochester Hills. Rogaliner set a new bar of excellence for Bedford Wrestling. His teammates erupted in cheers as the young grappler pointed to the crowd in victory. Congratulations to Mitch Rogaliner - 2010 STATE CHAMPION!

Earlier in the day Junior Brian Gibbs sliced through the field of 135 pounders to achieve an amazing 3rd Place finish. Gibbs commitment and dedication paid off as he dazzled the Bedford crowd with his unparalleled skill. Fantastic tournament Brian - Way to GO!!!

Our congratulations to Sophomore Nate Stevens who represented the Kicking Mules with honor at the Tournament coming one win away from placing.

For the first time in Bedford Wrestling history a freshman, Mitch Rogaliner, is wrestling for first place at the Individual State Tournament. Rogaliner put together a great day of wrestling and will be wrestling in the championship match Saturday. Junior Brian Gibbs had a spectacular first match and then lost in the semis. Gibbs is in the hunt for third on Saturday.

Nate Stevens was eliminated today but fought hard against a tough field.

Great Job Mules.

Brian Gibbs, Mitch Rogaliner, and Nate Stevens will head to the Palace of Auburn Hills to represent Bedford High School at the Individual State Tournament. Wrestling begins on Thursday and runs through Saturday. Please consider making the trip to see these three incredible wrestlers face Michigan’s wrestling elite. If you have a wrestler in the family it is a terrific opportunity to wach the best in the state.

***Breaking News Update***

Congratulations to Junior Brian Gibbs, Sophomore Nate Stevens, and Freshman Mitch Rogaliner! The three made it through a tough day to qualify for the state tournament. Gibbs took first, Stevens was third, and Rogaliner came in fourth. Way to go men!

Seven Mules emerged from Saturday’s District competition. Senior T.J. Romijn, Junior Brian Gibbs, and Freshman Mitch Rogaliner were champions and took the top spot on the podium. Sophomore Bryan Smith took second at the District. Nate Stevens took third. Junior Mason Allison and Sophomore Al Regnier placed fourth to bring Bedford’s tally to seven moving onward and upward to Regionals!

Congratulations to District Champions Nick Whitenburg, Ian Kohlhofer, and T.J. Romijn. Aaron Jeffrey and Bill Osborne placed second in their weight classes, Brian Gibbs and Mason Cole took third. Kyle Young took fourth. All eight will be moving on to the Individual Regional Tournament next Saturday at Woodhaven.

Way to go Mules! Fans we’ll see you Wednesday night cheering on the team for Team Regionals at John Glenn.
