Varsity heads to the Holt Tournament on Saturday. It’s set to be a tough tournament with a lot of great teams! The team needs to meet at 5:45 a.m. and leave by 6 a.m. Wrestling set to start around 9 a.m.

Wrestling Season Begins – Some Important Dates
Welcome back Mules! Monday is the first day of wrestling practice. Your sons will be given a packet of information and forms that they need to fill out and return to Coach right away. Monday there is also a Spirit Club Meeting. We’ll be meeting at Coney Island on Lewis from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

December 21st – RED OUT! Shirts on sale soon. GLWC kids make a tunnel, fans make some noise, and the wrestlers wreak havoc under the mat light at BHS! This is not to be missed!
January 4th – Senior Night. Families of Seniors mark your calendars, Senior Night is early this year because we don’t have too many home events.

Suggested Shoes and Headgear
As in year’s passed wrestlers must provide their own shoes and headgear. This year Coach Vogel can get a bulk discount on the wrestling shoes pictured below. They are Nike Inflict Wrestling shoes. They are $75 shoes but if 20 kids order them they drop down to $56. Please check in with Coach if you’d like to order the Nike Inflict shoes. If you do not purchase the Inflict Shoes please wear black wrestling shoes.
Check with Coach on first day of practice if you want to order these shoes at a discount.
In addition there is a specially designed headgear. This is not mandatory headgear but we wanted to let you know it is available. Please see Coach regarding order details if you’re interested in purchasing the custom headgear pictured below. The company making this is Crossface Graphics.
This is not mandatory but it is an option. Ask Coach if you'd like to order this headgear.

Meet with Coach and Open Mats
Coach would like all wrestlers to check in TUESDAY after school in the wrestling room. Football players can stop in AFTER football practice. This is only a few minutes to touch base with coach for contact information.
Open mats are now available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. All are welcome.
And the first SPIRIT CLUB meeting is set for October 24th at 6:30 p.m. at BHS.

Vogel Named New Head Wrestling Coach
The team welcomes Coach Vogel.
Spirit Club would like to welcome our brand new wrestling coach into the family, though he’s been here all along! Athletic Director Mark German announced Wednesday night that Kevin Vogel, Bedford Class of 1987, is taking the helm of our legendary wrestling program.
Kevin Vogel is a two time state champion and after breaking records at Bedford, Coach Vogel went on to break records at Central Michigan University. He holds Central’s career pin record at 66! Following his Chippewa career, Vogel was involved in USA Wrestling for several years, winning numerous international and national-level competitions.
Coach Vogel is in the Central Michigan Hall of Fame and in the Bedford Alumni Hall of Fame. In recent years he has been very active in helping to fund raise for the weight room and new wrestling room.
We welcome Coach, his wife Jessica, and their beautiful daughters back to Bedford Wrestling. We’ll be posting more from Coach in the coming days so don’t forget to come back to the site for frequent updates.

Wrestling Club Underway
There’s no room for passengers on a Mule Train. If you want it to go, everyone has to pull!
Great Lakes Wrestling Club is holding open mats at the Junior High on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. All high school and junior high wrestlers are welcome.

Varsity Poster Picture Day and T-Shirt Order Form
Varsity Wrestlers – please bring your singlets and warm-ups to practice on Monday, January 24th for the varsity wrestling poster photo shoot. The photo will take fifteen minutes immediately after practice.
A few creative BHS wrestling fans designed these terrific t-shirts and now they’re the “in” thing! Who knew? We are not selling these at an events. It’s strictly a pre-order item.
