What is the Ribfest?

Mike Calvin is an ’82 Bedford Grad and is back home to put on a community festival. This is not a rib competition, it is a festival with ribs (and tons of other delicious foods) live music, a kids area, and booths to browse and shop. He has hired Bedford Wrestling to work set up, clean up and garbage for the event.

Friday July 21, 5-10pm; Saturday July 22, 11am-10pm; & Sunday 11am-10pm happening on the Bedford High School grounds. (We are needed additional hours to assist with set up and clean up)

Here is some info I pulled from the events Facebook page:    First-A few Vendor spots still available. I have a lot of space so I have room for more vendors. If you sell a health care type product, clothing, arts & crafts, or any type of business we can figure out a way to show case you. I don’t do the “Gold, Silver & Bronze” sponsor packages. I customize everything from scratch because most vendors are trying to get noticed, remembered, or used in a particular way. That might be a 10×10 or bigger booth space to sell or talk to people. Maybe you want stage time (like mini seminars), or maybe you just want to support with banners in the festival? It all works. There will be a Kid’s Area that a name can go onto. There will be a stage that can be named. I have a bunch of ideas-try me 314-625-3998 Mike Calvin

Second-This is NOT a Rib competition. You pay cash or credit at point of purchase for whatever and whoever’s food you want.

**I now have a few spaces for specific foods-Pizza, desserts, or candy; call me asap! Can’t believe I do not have a pizza person-they always kill it!

Third-If anyone can or wants to volunteer I need help. Mostly on Thursday 12-8pm and Friday 8am to 3pm for set up. Too long of a story but I gave myself a concussion, and believe I tore my quad muscle and other soft tissue and at the moment can barely walk. I could also use help Sunday night 7pm to 10pm and Monday morning 8am to 12 noon for tear down. During the festival I can always find things for people to do like seat and watch over drive way closures, watch over kids area, trash pick up and lots more fun, fun stuff.

Fourth- let’s talk about liquor and The Official After Party !!! Forest View Lanes has both covered. As you are most likely aware the admission is FREE, parking is FREE but being on school property has one set back for some folks and that is it makes it a “dry festival” but Forest View a continuous shuttle from Friday night when festival starts at 5pm until 7pm Sunday when festival ends so you can have great food at festival, meet up with friends and go and have a few beers or drinks and come back. Then Forest View hosts The Official Red White & Blue Ribfest After Party Friday July 21st 10pm to 2am. Saturday July 22nd 10pm to 2am and again Sunday July 23rd 7pm to 2am with bowling, sand volleyball, corn holeFowling, yard games and 5 fire pits.So besides great food and live entertainment what else can you do at The Red White & Blue Ribfest.

There are plenty of vendors-arts, crafts, items for sale that promote health and wellness, home improvement, financial health, clothes, and more like Black Swamp Gourmet who has BBQ sauce, spices and rubs. Costco will be there with special membership sign up offers, Country Hearth with grills for your home so you can make that perfect rack of ribs, steak or whatever you grill. Dave White Chevrolet will have at least 4 vehicles on display so if your even thinking of a new car or truck talk to the people at Dave White Chevrolet. There are a few charities there to support like Bedford Township Vets who has an awesome wrapped trailer they are auctioning off. G.R.A.C.E. Greyhounds for greyhound adoption. Le-Vel Thrive products-if you want to Thrive see my friend Lora Egner. cosmetics and lipstick with Lip Service with Ashley. LuLaroe will have a variety of items you don’t find in stores. Essential Oils with Natural Minder. Omar’s Oasis sells everything from sun glasses to drones to spinners to shaved ice. baking, cooking and entertaining items with Pampered Chef/Wildtree. The RFS Chartiable Foundation is another 501C3 that is there to support and talk to you. Tupperware with Cindy. If you truly want a great product or are thinking of a healthier lifestyle then yo u need to pre-cook and pre-pack your foods like I do and to do that you need Tupperware ! I want and expect more vendors by Friday July 21st.

We have 5 bouncy houses for the kids. All kinds of different types of things to play in. A real petting zoo. And Interpid Helicopter rides. Yes, you can fly over the festival!!!(Helicopter rides Friday 5pm to 9pm and Sunday 11am to 7pm -NO Saturday.)

This is not a Bedford Township event although the Township Supervisor Paul Pirrone and the Board have been supportive. In other words no tax dollars are being spent on this Red White & Blue Ribfest. Sponsors & vendors pay for all the services needed to have a great event from security, to maintenance, bands, stage, sound, advertising, everything ! Bedford Public Schools is the manager of the event. They have contracted me to put the event on school property. They have been instrumental in making something this happen.

My goal is to have a FREE admission festival, free parking with free live music so you can just come and buy the food and beverage you desire and just enjoy. We can not do this without sponsors.

We will not block or shut down any roads. We will run shuttles from Temperance Road Elementary School and Jackman Road to help with parking. As well as a shuttle to Forestview.

You are NOT allowed to bring in coolers but are encouraged to bring chairs and/or blankets.

Saturday will be a Battle of the Bands with cash prizes for the winners.

Happening rain or shine
